Color Guard & Winter Guard
Color Guard is an exciting team activity that combines athleticism with dance and choreography. What makes color guard unique is the use of rifles, flags, sabers and other props.
During the summer and fall months, the color guard performs as part of the Lawrence North Regime Marching Band and Color Guard, which competes at local, state, and national competitions. The Regime has won four state titles and has placed in the top 5 at National Competitions!
All Regime members have opportunities to go on performance trips and attend other fun events. For example, during Spring Break 2010, members had the opportunity to go on a cruise to the Bahamas and perform at Disney World!
During the winter months, fall guard members have the opportunity to compete as the Lawrence North Winter Guard. These competitions take place in school gymnasiums across Indiana. Performances are staged to recorded music and feature elaborate costuming and stage sets.
The winter guard is a former Indiana High School Color Guard Association (IHSCGA) state champion. Indiana is unique in being the only color guard association that limits its members to high schools. It was begun by educators, and has remained fundamentally rooted in education through its history. Through IHSGCA, thousands of young people have been given a chance to perfect and perform various color guard skills.
