Band Camp

Marching band season begins in June. Practices are scheduled during the month for band students to learn how to march in block style formation. This prepares the Regime for their first performance of the season at the Independence Day parade in the city of Lawrence.

Band Camp takes place the 2 weeks before school starts. It is during these days that the season's competitive show begins to be put on the field. Band Boosters volunteer each day to help set up and serve dinner to hungry band campers and to provide medical assistance to those who need it.

Once school resumes, marching band practices take place Tuesdays through Thursdays, and Fridays when the Wildcats have home football games. Rehearsal times vary based on the day of the week. Please check the Calendar for the marching band practice schedule, which includes the LN Football Game Schedule and the ISSMA Competition Schedule (itineraries posted weekly).

Attendance at rehearsals is mandatory. This is crucial to insuring that the ensemble is able to progress and achieve high performance levels. We understand that there may be an occasion, particularly in the summer, when a student may need to miss a rehearsal or arrive late. However, in instances where a student misses significant rehearsal time, disciplinary action in the form of being benched for a performance may be necessary. Please take a moment to review the entire marching band calendar in order to identify any necessary absences. An Excused Absence form must be turned in to the directors as early as possible for each rehearsal conflict. (Excused Absence forms are included in the handbook, in the band room, and on the FORMS page of this website)

We expect that students in the Regime will conduct themselves in exemplary fashion at all times. This includes showing up for all rehearsals on time and working hard during rehearsal. It also includes maintaining a clean school disciplinary record (no referrals), maintaining an average to above average academic record, and treating our fellow members with dignity and respect. In addition, we expect that students will react positively to staff instruction, section leader comments, and show respect for school facilities and property. A student having trouble in any of these areas may have their performance eligibility revoked at any time. Additional guidelines are listed in the LN Bands pdf_files, Code of Conduct section.
